Officially a Toddler

We have a running, blabbling, very busy toddler on our hands. Daily I wonder how I am ever going to chase after two of them. God forbid I ever be a parent that buys a leash. Please, God. Please forbid it!

Now that he's past the age of one I can't really tell you the difference between him being 12 or 13 months. It all is just starting to combine now that he's physically up and able.

His first official word (outside of the "mammas and the daddas that we hear) is "hot." He is obsessed with fireplaces, candles, ovens, toasters, the stove, just about anything in the house that you can think of that's hot.  He also occasionally says "dire" for fire, but that one we're not 100% sure on. I've noticed him using the same babble words for the same types of things he looks at, so I'm sure those eventually will turn into little sentences. It's amazing how quickly they end up connecting the dots.

We have been so blessed with fantastic 80 degree weather off and on for the last couple of weeks. So, we decided on Saturday to head down to the beach for a few hours.

He loved getting his feet in the water. I just can't get over his tiny little sand footprints next to his dad's.

He is also obsessed with sand. Thankfully, he's not too obsessed with eating it.

My pathetic attempts to be "artsy." Thanks for the help instagram!

This poor boy has been trying to get over a cold since his birthday party. It just switches from runny nose back to a cough. I'm still thinking he has it because he's teething his back molars. I'm actually convinced of it.

So, to distract the poor guy, I ended up suckering my husband into letting me get another Disneyland pass. It's the lowest one, but that's really all I need. I'm hoping I can get other mommy friends to go with  me or get a pass themselves. Jackson just loves it every time we go. I also figured with me being pregnant it's a great way to get exercise.

Although the photo below wasn't taken at Disneyland, Jackson is quite into books lately and reading to himself. It's absolutely adorable.

He especially loves Mickey Mouse books.

Hanging out with Pluto on a cold, very slow day at Disney. It was perfect. A slight picture of the baby bump is noticeable.

For having stranger anxiety, he was SUPER delighted to meet Mickey Mouse. He was babbling and I had to stop him from running up to him while we were in line. It was absolutely adorable. Mickey played and kissed Jack while he just laughed and smiled. It was perfect!

Okay, enough Disney talk for now.

We bought him a wagon for his first birthday. Both Jackson and I are pretty in love with it.

I tried for over a week to get rid of the bottle. It was a nightmare. Even going down to two a day was impossible. So, I gave up. The kid doesn't need it to fall asleep, we brush his teeth before bed, and he has no other source of comfort (paci, etc.)

So, I've learned, although what the pediatrician says is always good advice to take, sometimes they just aren't ready. And because I brush his teeth every night, I'm not overly concerned. So, for  now, he gets his way. I figure I'll try again when I can reason with him a bit better. Any advice mammas? I've tried just about everything, but I'm open to any suggestions!

 Okay, enough parenting talk.

We have to look forward to in the month of March:  a trip to Colorado to meet Jackson's first cousin, Jackson's dedication at our church, Aaron's cousin Sophie's Bat Mitzvah, and this being my last month at DisplayWorks before April 8th. Big changes, and we can only thank God for all of the blessings He has given us, and we trust that He will provide during this exciting, and a bit stressful, transition.
